Recent studies show that crime against business makes up 20% of all recorded crime in the UK. As some of us are now working from home again, our business is closed, empty and vulnerable. So how can you keep buildings safe and secure during this period?

Here are some good reminders from CSGUK:

The first step is to identify where you are most vulnerable, this can be done by carrying out a risk assessment of the premises. This is because most burglaries are unplanned and criminals usually look for a lack of preventative measures and procedures. By strengthening doors, fitting locks, shutters, grilles, security lighting, Access Control, CCTV, Intelligent safes or an intruder alarm you can deter burglars.

Secondly, it is also advisable to install signs warning the public that CCTV is in operation. Why? Well, it is a good deterrent but will also help with data protection, should you ever have a situation where you need to provide footage. CCTV can provide vital evidence to the police, or insurance company whilst allowing you to monitor who is accessing your premises. Taking extra measures to secure your premises will help reduce insurance costs too - in fact,

most insurers will ask if your property is covered by CCTV.

Third, you should also ensure that your security systems are being maintained, serviced and checked regularly by site qualified people, they will have polices and procedures that are documented, regularly maintaining your equipment can reduce potential faults and increase the lifespan of your system.

Fourth, It is also worth making sure your staff have received awareness training and are able to identify suspicious behaviour and know how to report it.

And Finally, carrying out a regular stock or inventory audit is a good way to find anomalies before it's too late. Remember, if you do have an incident, involve the police and your insurance company immediately, and ensure any broken entry points are secure as you are more at risk immediately after a break-in or a theft.

So keep your business safe and look out for your community. If you have any concerns or want to check your security, CSGUK offers a free security consultative service where we will happily visit your premises and a perform a complete security check, provide you with an estimate and help define what you need at no obligation.

As the UK faces another Lockdown, It's in our nature to plan and prepare... from our businesses to our homes, with the devastations and disruptions that Covid-19 has caused this year, it's easy to forget the good times.

Imagine the scene... it's a busy Saturday, whether you are in retail or hospitality the smell of freshly cooked food, freshly roasted coffee, fresh-cut flowers, freshly printed newspapers or freshly poured beer fills you with hope.

Your customers arrive at the point of sale to complete their purchases and are pleasantly surprised to find that they can now pay for their items without handing their cash over to your staff member and receive their change back, which is perfect for reducing contact. We have all seen self-service devices, they have proven to be popular and efficient across the retail sector and they are definitely a much quicker way of completing purchases and the best thing is they support a customers payment choice.

"Shining a light on the way business transact with their customers

Lincsafe have designed the Lincstation... A customer-facing pay station so sophisticated it transforms the way cash is handled."

"Please tell me more", I hear you say. The Lincstation is an automated intelligent and closed cash draw payment solution which also supports your customers' payment choice as it enables them to pay by Card, Cash or QR/2D (contactless payment method where payment is performed by scanning a QR code from a mobile app)

This can either be fitted to sit on top of the counter or be mounted into the counter at the point of sale and can be colour coded to match the counter. There is a display at the front and back of the device so your customer and member of staff both have visibility of the transaction in progress. The closed cash register leads to increased security as staff will not have access to open it and can be emptied by value conveyor, which reduces risk to your business. Its closed-loop intelligent cash recycler has a capacity of 1500 coins and 600 or 1200 notes, will help improve your businesses cash flow and reduce cash handling costs.

"But what is a Cash Recycler?", you ask! A cash recycler is a device that takes in cash as a deposit and stores the money in a built-in safe. It then reuses or recycles the same notes for later transactions where it would then be dispensed. The Lincstation improves customer service by enabling fast and automated cash payments, calculating and returning the change, so there's never a mistake with changing money. It also reduces cash handling and saves time for staff members counting the cash.

So, the next time you plan a new build or renovation, consider the LincStation. It's the perfect piece of equipment that would be used every day in any business to conveniently transact with cash.

On New Year's Eve, if someone would have told us what was going to happen in 2020, many of us would not have believed it... but here we are 7 months into a global pandemic, something so unexpected! Have we got used to expecting the unexpected now?

What if you were told you can deposit cash as your business receives it, the deposits would be automatically credited to your account each day, that your CIT company could collect whenever your safe reaches capacity and all without ever needing to handle the cash or make a call for it to be collected. Whether you know them as Intelligent Safes or Smart Safes they perform exactly how you would expect them - ingenious! But, "Tell me what makes a smart safe so smart?" I heard you say...

n

Intelligent Safes: The Smart & Secure Solution for Cash Management.

Its “smartness” is its ability to connect to the internet, the point of sale, other cash management technology and back-office systems. This allows the safe to provide real-time visibility of its contents and an audit trail of each transaction, down to the exact operator if you wish! The Intelligent safe checks, counts and stores the deposited money safely in a cassette. This could be situated at the point of sale, or in the back office. Each deposited banknote is processed as a separate transaction for auditing (this can be a single or a duo note feeder). Access to the system is via a web portal and 4.3-inch or 7-inch touch screen. Intelligent safes can even be custom built to suit your business needs!
